In life, there are individuals who leave a lasting impact on those around them through their strength, hard work, wit, humor, and love. Lela was one such lady, who embodied these qualities and more. She was a pillar of strength, a hard worker, a witty individual, a funny storyteller, and a loving presence in the lives of those she touched. Her home was always open to friends and family, with a warm stove and full fridge offering comfort to all who entered. Lela's memory lives on through her stories, especially those of her love story with my papi. She cared for her grandchildren with love and firmness, leaving a lasting impression on each one of us. Lela will always be loved and remembered for her incredible spirit and warmth.Lela's strength was evident in the way she faced life's challenges with resilience and determination. Despite any obstacles that came her way, she stood strong and faced them head-on. Whether it was taking care of her family or working hard to provide for us all, Lela never wavered in her strength. Her hard work ethic was unmatched, as she tirelessly cared for her loved ones and ensured that her home was a place of comfort and joy. Lela's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she poured her heart and soul into every task she took on, as I recall her making everyone’s Quinceañera dresses, and always ready to turn my jeans into shorts. Lela's wit and humor brought lightness to the lives of those around her. She had a quick wit and a contagious laugh that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her stories were always entertaining, especially those of how she met her beloved husband(my papi)which were retold with joy and nostalgia. A little back story that we used to joke around with her and she’d agreed every time. As you all know she was 14 years old when she had her fist born son our Tio Rogelio, we would ask her if papi would come home with a lollipop for both since they were both technically still kids 😂 She would answer with “pues así me enamoro”. Again her humor was unmatched, there wasn’t anything we would say without her bouncing it back at us. Above all, Lela was a loving presence in the lives of her family and friends. She opened her home to all, offering food, laughter, and a listening ear to anyone in need. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cared for us with a perfect blend of love and discipline.Lela's grandchildren fondly remember her famous "aaaaaaaadiooooo" scolding, which always ended in hugs and kisses. Despite her firmness, they knew that her love for them was unconditional, and she lived for the joy they brought into her life. She loved every individual in her own personal way. Her home was a gathering place for friends and family, where delicious meals were always cooking on the stove and the fridge was stocked with treats, including her famous red beans. Lela's hospitality knew no bounds, and she found joy in bringing people together and making them feel at home.Lela was a remarkable woman who embodied strength, hard work, wit, humor, and love. Her presence in the lives of her family and friends was a gift, and her memory will forever be cherished. Lela's legacy lives on through the love she gave and the lessons she imparted. She will always be loved and remembered for the incredible woman she was. Te amamos, Lela.
