Lyle E Robinson

January 24, 1938 — September 4, 2024

Arivaca, Arizona

Lyle E. Robinson, DVM, (Doc) age 86, passed on to his home in heaven, after a long struggle on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 at 10:30 pm, in TMC Hospice Peppi's House.

He was born January 24th, 1938 in Santa Rita, NM to Elton and Alta (Harrison) Robinson. He married Mollie Woodrow in June of 1957.

He went on to graduate from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 1962. After graduation, he practiced six months with Dr. Siemer who taught him the infamous “flank spay” he became known for. In January 1963, after hearing that Gallup, NM and the surrounding area were without a veterinarian, he and Mollie packed up and moved there to start their first practice. He practiced in Gallup for 14 years, servicing many outlying rural Navajo & Zuni communities as "The Medicine Man".

In 1976 he moved to live on his ranch, The Tres Bellotas- located South of Arivaca on the Mexican border. Owning the Tres Bellotas Ranch was a dream come true for him! He loved his herd of Charolais cattle, plus his herd of Quarter Horses and his Mammoth Jack Donkeys!!

While cattle ranching, he also practiced and taught veterinary medicine weekly for the Tohono O’ Odham Tribe in Sells, AZ for 25 years; In 1998 he started the Arivaca Animal Clinic as a mobile practice going on farm calls, having clinic days at his daughters home and meeting clients in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church after the services! Mollie, his wife and loyal partner, served as secretary, technician and bookkeeper for his practice. At the age of 76, in 2014 he built the Arivaca Animal Clinic here today.

Over the years, he mentored many young individuals and family members that continue his legacy and passion for veterinary medicine. Family members that he mentored are his son-in-law, Dr. Clifford Honnas (1984) and three of his grandchildren:

Dr. Cheri Honnas (2017),

Dr. Lauren (Robinson) Lyssy (2018) and Dr. Henre Honnas (2020). He also served as the veterinarian for The Animal League of Green Valley for 28 years. He loved being a veterinarian. It was not a job for him, it was his love and his passion. In 2021, after 50 years of being a veterinarian, he regretfully retired due to health conditions. He was 83 years old.

He enjoyed history, leather work, and oil painting as some of his hobbies. His faith in the Lord Jesus led him in his early youth to commit his life to follow Him. He was one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church of Arivaca and was instrumental in supporting missions to make the Good News of Jesus Christ known all over the world.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mollie, and their four children, Leslie Piantedosi (Nick); Lorie Honnas (Cliff); Lindle Hamilton (David); , and Lowell Robinson (Chrissy); along with 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
