Carmen Genardini

August 21, 1921 — February 15, 2023

Scottsdale

Our beloved mother known as Grandma Dini died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 15, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona.

She was born on August 21, 1921 in Nogales, Arizona to proud parents Frank Lown and Enriqueta Gonzalez Lown. Her father used to say that she was the finest girl in town. She was preceded in death by her parents and her soulmate and husband Carlos Genardini. She is survived by her children Carlos (Susie) Genardini, Anna (William) Solley, Francis (Rosa) Genardini, and Carmen (Richard) Riedel; nine grandchildren Chris, Michael, Roxanna, Ryan, Michelle, Stephanie, Diana, Drew, and Danny; and eleven great-grandchildren Grant, Gregory, Walter, Reid, Alexander, Henry, Edrich, Wyatt, Ridley, Leo, and Luke.

Carmen graduated from Nogales High School in 1939 and married the love of her life Carlos in 1943. She worked as a secretary, cashier, and teller prior to her marriage and then dedicated her life to raising her family and to volunteer service. She was a member of the Altrusa Club, Women’s Club, and the Nogales Garden Club. She was a social butterfly, enjoyed experimenting with new recipes, and loved to play canasta and host tardeadas with her many friends.

Our sweet mother was very devoted to her Roman Catholic faith and to the Virgin de Guadalupe and prayed the rosary daily. She deeply loved her family and emulated the values of beauty, compassion, courage, friendship, grace, integrity, loyalty and perseverance. She was known for her kindness, charming wit, passion for life, and “todo to match” fashionable dress style.

During the last years of her life, she was diagnosed with dementia and lived at Mountain Park Senior Living in Memory Care and received support from Suncrest Hospice in Phoenix, Arizona. Due to her excellent caregivers, mom lived to be 101 years of age! She will be deeply missed and will live in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends that donations be sent to Suncrest Hospice at 4650 E. Cotton Center Blvd, Suite 250; Phoenix, Arizona 85040.
